Since the release of firmware 3.1, it is possible to buy ringtones from the iPhone on the iTunes Store. For this, simply launch the iTunes store and go to the tab "ringing" at the bottom.
Unfortunately each downloaded ringtone lasting 30 seconds will cost 1.29 € (Apple $ 1 = € 1 ...).
