Apple has issued a note warning against the excessive heat that can damage your iPhone 3G and 3GS:

Use the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS only in a place where the temperature is 0 º C and 35 º C. High temperatures or low temperatures may temporarily reduce the lifespan of the battery or cause a temporary stoppage of operation of the phone.

If you see that your phone crashes and leaves this message appear, it is too hot

Moreover, in case of overheating:

• Charging the phone battery stops.
• The display fades.
• The cellular signal is weak.
